Same problem as with Free Warp.. This is a MAJOR bug and it is well documented. I really thought Steinberg would have fixed this for this update. :(

Hello, that issue requires integrating a new library in Cubase.
Fix is set for 9.0.20, current status 'Unresolved'.

So the Freewarp function can not be used in Cubase 9 then. Are there any workarounds to be able to free warp audio??

9.0.20 will be released in the summer?

This really bugs me, since I really like Cubase 9...

It was an issue for me, but there's is a workaround - import midi devices in Cubase 8.5 and use it's Midi Devices.bin file with Cubase 9 - it's in %appdata%/Steinberg folder,

I guess the fix will come somewhere in june if the schedule from previous version stick (as it usually was). Half a year with an unworking software in this area-brilliant

There is no direct workaround in 9, but to revert to v 8.5. This is really unacceptable.

After the update it happens like this, once I just try to add the audio part from 1st track.
If I do the same with the audio part from 2nd track, it is ok and I can even create a new sample track with the first audio part.

wondering what's that?

This is such a major bug that they should fix it immediately with a hot fix. Waiting months really is not acceptable for such a major feature that is broken.

Does VariAudio in Cubase 9.0.10 need to be abandoned also? (Does it use the same warping algorithm as Freewarp?).

It's funny how Steinberg has time to release many updates for CP9.. still full of bugs. Yet not even one update for CP8.5.. At this point what are the choices? Should a user switch from one daw with major bugs to a newer daw with other bugs?

This kind of business practice makes me feel like selling all my Steinberg hardware and software and switch to another DAW...

Isn't it coincidence that there is always no demo for several months ?
Once you have paid it is not their problem anymore.

I guess v9 was a total waste of money.

This is really annoying.
This is the one I was waiting for. Extremely disappointing. Back to 8.5

I'm actually happy to hear about true solutions like these. Just like the upcoming new video engine, big changes take time, but are so worth it in the end.

Similarly, something like advanced (curved, sample accurate) automation isn't a small job. When I get confirmation that's actually being rewritten from scratch, then I couldn't be more happy. I'm in it for the long game.

9.0.20 not coming until Summer is just speculation, right? Nobody's officially said this?

I haven't even run v9 since finding the elastique bug, which took all of five minutes.

It's speculation. The video engine update is supposed to come out pretty soon.

I highly doubt that it will be included with the video update. I dearly hoped it would be included in this update.

Its not officially stated but:

8.5.20 was released on june 15th 2016
8.0.20 was released on june 4th 2015

So i very likely it will be in the same time schedule. (Hopefully m wrong)

Oh yes Alexis the Variaudio uses the classic algorithm not he Elastique ones so its probably not affected. (although I havent tested that one much)

It's a standard in software development, and as such, it is often confusing for people not in that business. Think of it this way, what would come after 9.0.9?

The reason why you likely is thinking "9.1.0, of course" is because you are used to counting using the decimal system. The periods does not represent a decimal in that sense, but is simply a separator of numerical values.

Poor choice of separator by someone, or simply a poor scheme overall? Well, it's in the eye of the beholder. For better or worse, at least someone made something up, and here we are. :)

You have to admire that even the version number of a Cubase release is a problem on this forum.

It is by no means a Steinberg problem. It's a widespread phenomenon. It's even a business concept. Unless it's a free open source project, you will be saying the same thing about brand X.

What is interesting is that this same cycle keeps repeating. More interesting is that 20-30 years ago, synthesizers and other devices didn't have any updates at all and they pretty much always just worked (software AND hardware). I have so many machines that still works like they were meant to. Can't say that about a lot of software nowadays.

One can argue of course, that they were not as advanced as a software application like Cubase. This is a cheap shot, in my opinion, because for their time they were as advanced as they could be built, just like software only is nowadays.

In comparison, serving as an example, and however much someone may dislike Windows... you build a computer with chosen hardware, plop a DVD for $200 in the drive, and half hour later you are up and running. There are bugs anytime anywhere of course, but largely it just works. Multiple and frequent updates, and the computer keeps running. These updates are for all kinds of subsystems within Windows, core stuff that makes or breaks other stuff. Mostly there are relatively few problems. This is of course a no go for the ones experiencing them, but they are a minority.

Now, with that in mind, I find it amazingly disturbing that much software on top of Windows, needs to be configured or otherwise setup "some way" in order to work "as advertised". I am talking mega corporation software, costing millions of dollars for each sold license. What a load of horse manure.

Anyways, my point is, or was ;), that you don't NEED the latest version of everything. It's some sort of constructed need that business have successfully ingrained into our brains. Part of this, is the notion of planned obsolescence, a real and present danger, which makes you think that something is wrong with an item, or it easily breaks under normal use. It's not really anything wrong with your software is there? After all, you used it for a year or two, taking the bad with the good?

A new version of something will have a few catchy features, but nothing you cannot live without. Sure, it would be neat to have it, but you worked all that time earlier without it. That situation will survive much longer. If you can afford to plow more money into it, certainly move, but there is absolutely no need to.

"Wanting is more than having," is a snappy little sum-it-up.

Really disappointed that Warping is whacked still..Should be priority 1 since it actually screws up what is really important; the sound. Didn't anyone notice this at beta? confused.

Yeah, cause the other DAWs never have bugs and always release perfectly functioning updates - never a glitch! It's a mystery why any of us ever chose Cubase, huh? [sarcasm off]

This is a DAW core function that is broken on release of a new version.

How often does that happen in these other DAWs you mention?
